Award of Excellence for Innovation
IAF's Award of Excellence for Innovation in Agriculture and Agri-Food celebrates innovative ideas, products, projects and programs generated by the agriculture, agri-food and bioproducts sector that deliver economic, environmental or social benefits to British Columbia.
The 2010 recipient was Roger Bailey of Kalwood Farms in Oyama, BC. Bailey was recognized for his mobile work platform that creates safer and more efficient working conditions in BC orchards.

Bailey received the award at the BC Agriculture Council's Agri-Food Industry Gala on January 27 in Abbotsford.
Using recycled Japanese rice harvesters, Bailey added a platform system, safety rails and a hydraulic forklift. The resulting work platform reduces worker fatigue and injury, is more fuel-efficient than conventional machinery used to transport harvest bins and increases productivity in pruning, thinning and harvesting.
