After dealing with two outbreaks of Avian Influenza since the spring of 2004, this program was created to help the BC industry develop enhanced on-farm biosecurity programs and an emergency response program that can be immediately activated to prevent a detected outbreak from spreading.
The program consists of three funds totalling $3.1 million.

The province provided $1.5 million in early 2005 for poultry biosecurity and emergency response planning and $100,000 a year later for a cleaning and disinfection program for the unregulated specialty bird sector |

In early 2006, the federal government selected BC to conduct an on-farm biosecurity pilot and provided $1.5 million |
Strategic Priorities
Funding is available for projects that address the following key activity areas, as identified in the Poultry Industry Biosecurity / Emergency Response strategic plan:
